DiJones Annual Market Report shows strong market conditions despite COVID
Real estate agents across the DiJones network saw some of the strongest property prices in their careers in the last financial year with record growth and unprecedented demand as properties were snapped up by buyers at record prices and in record time.
Launching the DiJones 2020-2021 Annual Market Report DiJones CEO Dean Mackie said despite grappling with the new COVID environment, the property market has responded in ways that were truly unexpected.
“A desire for a lifestyle change became possible due to flexible work arrangements and interest in family homes on the Lower North Shore in Mosman as well as the Burradoo and Bowral in the Southern Highlands was stronger than ever.
“People favouring lifestyle over proximity to the city saw the Central Coast market buzzing with buyers. The beachside suburbs of Terrigal, Wamberal and Avoca Beach saw strong growth and acreage, five minutes from the beach, was in demand.”
Mr Mackie said in the Eastern Suburbs Bronte, Tamarama and Clovelly are hugely popular at the moment for families. While, Woollahra, Paddington, Darlinghurst and Surry Hills have also seen significant growth since January 2021.
“On the Upper North Shore Normanhurst and Westleigh are seeing fierce competition and record prices.”
Looking ahead Mr Mackie said lockdown has enabled people to put their priorities in order and many are ready to find the right home.
“Properties with studios, offices, large gardens and swimming pools, that support the balance of working from home and lifestyle, are at the top of the wish list as buyers refine their search criteria.
“The mid-tier prestige market in particular has the opportunity to flourish due to strong interest from those seeking to upgrade and homes with opportunities to renovate were sought after last financial year and could be again.”
In response to client demand DiJones has grown the number of agents across the network and offices have opened in Mona Vale and Palm Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches as well as in the Central Coast and the Illawarra at Terrigal, Avoca Beach, Erina and Wollongong.
“Right across our network DiJones is still trading in an extremely high demand market, and it will take some time before the appetite of the current buyer pool is satisfied. The COVID-19 environment has seen a shift in buyer demands and we plan to extend our reach in the year ahead.”
