DiJones expects strong post Easter period after solid March
Buyer and seller confidence is returning to the market with DiJones seeing strong auction results for the month of March and solid stock levels post Easter.
There were 101 auctions across the DiJones network of Sydney, the Southern Highlands and Central Coast, with a clearance rate of 94 per cent, compared to 49 auctions in March 2020 and a clearance rate of 76 per cent.
“The number people attending open homes and auctions over the last month has increased,” DiJones Head Auctioneer Josh Larsen said. “A low interest rate environment and an easing of COVID restrictions has seen a more relaxed environment and heightened interest in the property market across the board.
“We are seeing confident buying strategies which is resulting in auctions being moved forward to make it as fair as possible for buyers who can see the full process undertaken in the most transparent way.” The momentum is expected to continue after Easter with 80 auctions booked across the DiJones network despite it also being school holidays, and a traditionally slower period.
“Easter has not deterred people from going to market and we are seeing significant activity through April in comparison to pre-covid Easter periods.”
“There is strong interest from Sydney buyers to regional areas with a recent open house on the central coast seeing 124 out of 126 people who attended looking at relocating from Sydney.”
“The Southern Highlands market is also performing strong with 6 from 7 properties sold or 86 per cent clearance rate at an auction event on Tuesday.”
“While the highlands isn’t traditionally an auction market, we are seeing venders embracing the familiar process to cater for Sydney buyers.”
DiJones sales agent Amy Kasler secured a new suburb record for a house in Thornleigh on 27 March at 48 Goodlands Avenue, Thornleigh with a sale price of $2,295,000, while agents Linda Ratcliff and Valerie Latham also secured a new suburb record at South Turramurra for 11 Eden Avenue, South Turramurra.
