Why nobody wants to leave the north shore

Why nobody wants to leave the north shore

September 5, 2017 | by DiJones

An education may be priceless, but getting your child into one of the in-demand public schools comes at a cost – with the increasing pressure on school intakes, schools are putting increasing scrutiny on parents proving residency on the north shore and pushing property values ever higher.

Increasing demand for a spot in a quality school has put increasing pressure on an already high-demand north shore market, meaning when people secure a position in the north shore market they are likely to remain there for the long term. This creates a high-demand, tightly held market where values are protected beyond typical fluctuations.

The same goes for tenancies – when a family secures a property in a desirable catchment zone, they are likely to want to commit to the property for the long term – meaning proximity to a quality school is an important consideration for north shore investors.

To give you an idea of how the north shore stacks up in terms of Sydney’s best schools, we’ve compiled a list of the best-performing schools for 2016 in the upper and lower north shore area.

According to the 2016 Better Education rankings, the north shore represents 15 of the top 50 Sydney secondary schools and 25 of the top 50 Sydney primary schools.
